We hire hearses, limousines and funeral cars to funeral directors and individuals organising their own funerals through out the North East of England.
All our funeral cars are Jaguar or Daimler and include two hearses and five limousines. All our cars are kept to the highest standard, both in their appearance and mechanically.
All cars come with our own professional drivers, who have a extensive experience of funeral work and are fully insured.
Our costs for hearse and limousine hire are worked out based on miles and duration of hire.
We will hire just one car to give you additional capacity, or we can provide multiple cars.
We can even help if one of your funeral cars breaksdown, assuming vehicles aren’t already booked out. if you are a funeral director in County Durham make a note of our number.
If you are looking to buy a hearse or funeral car we regularly update our vehicles and occassionally have funeral cars for sale.

Coping with death is never easy, and yet it will effect us all throughout our lives, whether it’s the death of a friend, a family member or indeed our own.
At Lambs we try to make this difficult time as painless as possible, and we aim to do this by listening to what you want, whether your planning your own funeral or that of a loved one.

The following is a list of some of the services we can provide, however being flexible is the key to our success so if there is something particular you would like please just ask!
Coffins and caskets are supplied by J.C. Atkinson the largest independent manufacturer in the UK, with a range to suit all tastes and budgets.
Embalming can be performed which will give the deceased a more natural appearance and colouring, this is usually suggested if the funeral is expected to be delayed for any reason.
We will dress the deceased in the clothes provided by the family. Personal items can also be placed in the coffin.
Family and friends can view the deceased in our private chapel of rest by appointment and with the family’s approval. Alternatively the deceased can be returned home prior to the funeral.
all our vehicles are either Jaguar’s or Daimler’s, which are presented and maintained to the very highest standard. Should you wish we are also able to arrange other types of transport including horse drawn hearse or motorcycle hearses.
We arrange what ever the family would prefer be it church or crematorium burial, or graveside service, religious or non religious.
Contacting all the different venues and businesses involved in a funeral and can be difficult especially at a time when your grieving. We can take care of all these arrangements.

There are different circumstances surrounding people passing and we at Lambs Funeral Services are here to help. At any stage or time do not hesitate to call us for advice.
What you need to do often depends on the location of the person when they died, unless the death was sudden (See Note*), in which case you should call the police.
Call your doctors surgery, they will come to your home to issue a certificate of death, which will be required to register the death. It is often at this point the family will contact us to arrange for the deceased to be taken to our chapel of rest. This can be done at by calling us on 0191 5261846 day or night.
The facilities senior staff will have called the doctor to provide a certificate of death and you will be notified of where to collect the certificate. You can instruct us to take the deceased in to our care.
Assuming the doctor has attended and issued a certificate of death we are able to take the deceased’s body into our care at our chapel of rest in Murton. We can then arrange a time that’s convenient for you either at your home or at our premises to discuss the funeral arrangements.
At Lambs we pride ourselves on our ability to work with the family to provide as much or as little assistance as they require in making this difficult time run as smoothly as possible. If the deceased had arranged a pre paid funeral plan, then most of the decisions will already of been made. if this isn’t the case the deceased may have left instructions in their will. It is usual for the executor or nearest relative to make decisions about any arrangements.
Registering the death must be done by a member of the family and within 5 days of the death.

*Note: In some occasions the doctor may not be able to issue a Medical Certificate of Death and will inform the Coroner, if the death was sudden, violent, as a result of an accident or industrial disease or whilst the deceased was undergoing medical procedure.
